EUGEO (Association of Geographical Societies in Europe) ordnar en konferens vid Karlsuniversitetet i Prag 28 juni – 1 juli 2021.
Temat är ”Sustainable geographies in the heart of Europe”.
Konferensen kommer genomföras i hybridform, vilket innebär att deltagarna kan välja mellan att delta på plats eller via nätet.

A new Issue of kritisk etnografi − Swedish Journal of Anthropology, Vol. 2, No 1-2, 2019, is now published, focusing on “Comparative Municipal Ethnographies”. Several articles is about African countries and contexts. The purpose is to contribute to informed analyses of the conditions and articulations of local politics from different parts of the world. Case-studies include the marketspace of party politics (Ghana), diaspora politics and local development (Mali, Tibet/India), urban development and land speculation (Uganda, Niger), decentralised policy reforms (Indonesia, Bolivia), tourism industry and local politics (Philippines), and political failure (Burkina Faso).
A common thread is the ethnographic analysis of how “democratic decentralisation” articulates meaning in different contexts and countries across the world. Comparing discourses, debates and practices between municipalities puts the searchlight on the interaction of actors and institutions, including administrative procedures, traditional and religious authorities, representatives of marginalised groups, development actors, political parties, and social and political brokers. Kulturgeografiska institutionen och Uppsala universitet hälsar alla hjärtligt välkomna till Geografdagarna 27−28 oktober 2020.
Geografdagarna är en nationell mötesplats för geografilärare på alla nivåer, geografilärarutbildare från universitet och högskolor samt andra med intresse för geografiutbildning.

Exkursion med focus på högarktisk miljö i det område på jorden som redan har jordens kraftigaste temperaturhöjning orsakad av klimatförändringen.
Vi exkurerar på Svalbards västkust med Isfjord Radio som utgångspunkt. Härifrån gör vi dagsturer till fots och med mindre båt. Docent Jonas Åkerman, som forskat i området sedan 1972, är huvudguide och han kommer att vara assisterad av yngre forskare från Lunds universitet och lokala guider.
